2024 Interior Design Trends

With 2024 well underway, it is time to take a moment to look at the interior design trends becoming prominent as the year progresses.

Curves: Curves and creative lines have been making a big comeback in all forms of design from architectural right through to cabinetry and soft furnishings. The playfulness of integrating curves into your home not only creates a sense of calm, but also adds interest to a space. While adding this as an architectural feature may not be a priority when designing your home on a budget, there are many other ways to incorporate curves into your home from statement furniture pieces, mirrors, cushions and lighting fixtures.

Bold colour schemes: While minimalism has long reigned supreme in interior design, maximalism is making a bold comeback in 2024. Think vibrant colours, eclectic patterns, and the layering of luxurious textures. We are loving this trend as it encourages self-expression and embraces the idea that more is indeed more when it comes to decorating your space

Flexible Living Spaces: With the rise of remote work and flexible lifestyles, the concept of multifunctional spaces is gaining traction. Rooms that seamlessly transition from office to gym to entertainment area are becoming increasingly popular. Versatile furniture pieces, such as modular sofas and collapsible tables are also in the forefront of this trend to allow for easy adaptation to changing needs

Warm Neutrals: Despite cool greys and stark whites having dominated colour palettes in recent years, warm neutrals are making a comeback in 2024. Shades of beige, caramel, and terracotta create a cozy and inviting atmosphere, evoking a sense of comfort and serenity within the home.

Soft lighting: While we all have a primary light source in our home, we are seeing the rise of soft lighting which focusses on creating a warm, inviting ambiance through gentle diffused light.  Rather than harsh, direct lighting, soft lighting design incorporates diffused light sources such as pendant lights with fabric shades, frosted glass fixtures, or lamps with opaque shades. Diffusion softens the light and reduces glare, resulting in a gentle, even illumination.
