The selections team here at Cunic Homes have a new favourite Polytech colour from their melamine range – “Oxford” Matt.  Paired with a lighter benchtop and either Masion Oak or the Rojo Walnut Woodmatt section of overheads, this sleek colour scheme creates the perfect modern entertaining area within your home.

This colour sits well within the current trend of darker cabinetry; and we are continuously seeing these colours being selected within our builds, and other builds in Hobart and beyond.

New colours can be viewed on the Polytec Website as well as in their Hobart Showroom, or if you are building with us we have these samples on display.

Xenolith Benchtops are another product on our radar! The dream of a thin, clean, sleek benchtop have been fulfilled with this benchtop. We are loving this product and cannot wait to see it brought to life in one of our kitchen designs – the options are endless with the profile choices and with the colour range continuously expanding there is no doubt that this product will take off.

Xenolith has many uses it can be used for not only benchtops but also vanities, cafe tops, alfresco areas, and is suitable for horizontal and vertical applications.

For more details pop into Polytec Hobart or if you’re building with us we would love to show you this product.

We are starting to see landscaping packages included as part of a standard residential build.

This may be because we are becoming more time poor or because the idea of living in a property that still isn’t landscaped years from now, is often the reality of building your own home. Factoring in landscaping at contract stage it a great way to ensure this doesn’t happen and that you have allowed funding for this part of your project.

If you are considering building, it is worth having the conversation about your landscaping needs, even if we just prep the site for you by bringing in topsoil and constructing garden beds.

Oftentimes it is much harder and a lot more labour intensive to landscape once the home is finished and the fences are up; reducing access to the yard.

Attached is an image of our most recent display home in Spring Farm Estate, Kingston. This project was expertly landscaped and included both hard and soft landscaping. I think we can all agree, that moving into a home that is finished to this level is the goal.

Timber grain, dark colours and stone are strong themes in joinery at the moment. The black kitchen is back and timber grains are both tactile and add warmth to the overall design.

The image above is the Cunic Homes - HIA Display Home of the Year for 2018. This kitchen is the perfect balance of light, warmth and bold dark colours.

In 2019 we are expecting to see even darker kitchens, timber accents continuing and the addition of warming metals such as brass. Keep an eye out for our upcoming display home, which is all things warm, dark and moody!

Freestanding baths have been very popular in 2018 and seem set to continue into 2019.

Cunic Homes offer a beautiful freestanding bath as standard in our Luxe Living range of inclusions, with any of our other inclusions’ ranges easily upgraded to also include this bath.

If a freestanding bath is something you are wanting to include in your new home, allow enough room in the bathroom at design stage to make the most of this luxury item!

It’s official, the Pantone colour of the year for 2019 is Living Coral (Pantone 16-1546).

Described by the company as a “social and spirited” colour, it can be incorporated into your new home though the use of soft furnishings such as; bed linen, cushions, sheer curtains and accessories.

You may recall a similar colour Tangerine Tango transverse the fashion and interior design industries some years ago; popping up in homewares and fashion for some time. We can expect the same with Living Coral, where this vibrant shade will inject life into homes and wardrobes throughout 2019.
